Convert video to animated WebP on Mac
Animated WebP is the modern alternative to GIF — the same loop at a fraction of the file size. GifDrop converts MP4 or MOV to WebP locally on your Mac, with trimming, a size target, and no watermark.

Why WebP instead of GIF?
GIF is limited to 256 colours and stores full frames, so it’s large and can look banded. Animated WebP uses modern video-style compression: the same clip is typically several times smaller, with smoother colour — while still autoplaying and looping like a GIF. If your destination supports WebP (most modern browsers and apps do), it’s the better choice.
How to convert video to WebP
- Drop your video — an MP4 or MOV into GifDrop.
- Trim to the exact loop you want.
- Set Format to WebP and choose a size budget.
- Export — a small, sharp animated WebP, saved locally.
Need a GIF instead?
Some places only accept GIF. GifDrop exports a size-targeted GIF with one click too, and can reduce an oversized GIF to fit a limit.
